What is Sanctifcation?

We offer a customized discipleship / sanctifcation process to help clients move ahead in their walk with God.  It is typically the “last“ leg of the CDS Process, and is preceded by counseling and/or deliverance ministry.

Sanctification is changing toward godliness. The Bible says that it is God’s will for us to be sanctified (1Thessalonians 4:3). Such terminology conveys the importance of sanctification. The root word for the word translated “sanctification” is the Greek word which means “Holy”. In the New Testament, both the word translated “sanctification” (hagiasmos) and the word translated “sanctify” (hagiazo) come from the root word for “Holy”. Thus, the idea communicated is that of becoming more like Christ Himself.

At Above & Beyond, we take very seriously the Scriptures that speak to the narrow road to life and the wide road that leads to destruction and death.  A key part of that strategy is teaching practical, tactical aspects of spiritual warfare.  After deliverance ministry, the battlefield is the mind and we need to know how to win these spiritual battles.

Colossians 1:10 (NIV)
“that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God“

Matthew 7:13-14 (NIV)
"Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it."

How Does It Work?

We have a set of tools that allow us to help clients stay on the narrow road.  These tools involve counseling sessions with teachings and homework that is to be done before the next session.  We review and assess each time and measure progress.  If the client has come out of the deliverance ministry process, typically this involves explaining temperament analysis to them and administering the Arno Profile System.

For example, if a client has struggled with anger then we focus on helping him/her win that “mental battle” and begin to change habits.  Deliverance set us free from torment but then we need to make changes in behaviors/situations to facilitate growth.

Married couples have tailored assignments that are consistent with what their issues were and also with their temperaments if those were administered to them during the Counseling phase.

In short, we  offer a path of growth and change, on the road to life,  that the client can pursue if they are willing!
